When I heard that I’d inherited a dwelling in Jacksonville, Florida, I was excited. Although I hadn’t seen my Uncle in over thirty years, I was her only living relative. Living in the northeastern part of the country, I was actually interested in a dwelling down south. I imagined escaping the long, chilly winters plus enjoying a vacation home in close proximity to the ocean. I pictured palm trees plus shite sand. My first glimpse of the dwelling was an unpleasant shock. The sod was overgrown plus littered with garbage. The front porch was collapsing plus the door was sagging from the hinges. Inside the dwelling was a total disaster. It smelled of spoiled food, mold plus body odor. There were signs of major water disfigurement, broken windows plus crumbling drywall. My Uncle must have saved every newspaper plus magazine she ever read. They were stacked along the walls along with broken furniture, many cables plus all sorts of useless stuff. I wanted nothing to do with the property. I didn’t have the time, money or knowledge of the part to hire professionals to handle the cleaning, repairs plus renovations. Listing the dwelling through traditional means wasn’t an option. There was no way the roof, plumbing, electrical or Heating plus A/C system would pass a home inspection. The dwelling wasn’t safe, secure or in wonderful enough condition to qualify for a bank loan. The only way to sell the dwelling was for money. I evaluated online plus found a local, Jacksonville money home buyer. I like that the company is family-owned plus operated plus has bought many properties in the area. They accept properties in any condition plus close as abruptly as ten nights.
