After my husband passed away and my kids moved out, I knew it was time to move into a smaller home.
I thought about moving into one of those high rises that are for people over sixty, but I wanted a home, and not a hotel, instead of concierges.
I found the perfect little cottage nearer where my daughter lived and put a down payment on it. Now, all I had to do was sell my house. I went online to see if I could sell my home without a realtor? I got a lot of ideas on how to sell the house, but they gave me such a long list of do’s and don’ts that I wasn’t sure I could do it on my own. I called my daughter to ask what she thought about me selling my house without a realtor. She thought I should get a realtor, because I could get more money. Even if I sold my house without a realtor, she said to call several of them. My daughter thought I should have them give me ideas of what I needed to have done to the house before selling. I should also ask what they recommended as a selling price with the repairs, and without. I shouldn’t sign any contracts, but ask for the paperwork in case I used them. She was at the house on the days I had the realtors at the house. She helped with the questioning and even asked what a closing sheet would look like. I sold my house without a realtor, and thanks to my daughter, I got my selling price, and I didn’t nee to give the realtor 6% of the price I got.
